It is the policy of Rainbow Housing Co-op to consider all applications that are submitted to it without prejudice providing they meet the following eligibility criteria.

1. Applicants must be over 18 years of age on or before the date the tenancy is to commence.

2. Applicants are required to have attended at least four meetings of the Co-op, one of which should be a monthly general meeting, and one a sub group meeting. In addition applicants will be expected to have attended at least one meeting a year in the second and subsequent years of applications.

3. Applicants presently in owner occupied houses:

a) The Co-op would expect an applicant, should they own a house, to sell this property if offered a tenancy

b) people who part own a property would be expected to relinquish their share of the property.

This intent should be expressed by the applicant on the application form before they can be considered for a tenancy, and members would expect them to honour their agreement within a given time determined by the Co-op.

ALLOCATION OF A TENANCY In reaching a decision to allocate a tenancy the Co-op will take into consideration the following:

1. Whether the applicant demonstrates an active interest in comparative living and regards it as a valid way of life.

2. Whether the applicant shows a Commitment to actively participate in the running of the Co-op's affairs, and to using their abilities and skills to that end.

3. The Co-op will consider all relevant details concerning the applicants needs and conditions of present accommodation.

4. The Coop will take into account the views of the existing members regarding the suitability of applicants as Rainbow members.
